Casi Sunrise

Got to sneak out for a sunrise hike this morning on Cerro Alvarado next to my house. Actually pre-sunrise, it doesn’t peak out over the Andes until after 8am in late summer.

Santiago

This cerro is great because it offers 360 degree views. And I can walk there from my house. And there is never anyone else there.

How crazy is it that this world class hike is just empty all the time. Well here it’s just another average old hill, there are hundreds like them. Qué pena.

Looking over the Andes, near Cerro Colorado and the ski resorts

Heading back, even though it’s thirty minutes from sunrise, you get an amazing glow over the city. The Costanera center, tallest building in South America, is half overtaken by the not yet visible rays.
