Matanzas

Chile has a long coast. This is known. So I suppose there are many excellent beach towns to visit. I plan to find out.

First stop, Matanzas. It’s about 2.5 hours from Santiago. The “downtown” area is more of a village. But it’s got a few excellent restaurants and coffee shops.

The cliffs are mesmerizing. Staring at sun, water, cliffs, waves, sand in some order is generally a winner. And it certainly is here.

And the sunsets.

You could say I took a few photos of the sunsets.

How is there not a single person in any of your pictures? I figure there would be people walking on that beach, playing, swimming, … That makes the sights even more breathtaking!

It’s winter right now in Chile, I think that’s the main reason. Also Matanzas is a small town so there are fewer people here in general. Not pictured, I did see quite a few surfers, and a few people and dogs walking on the beach, a few fishermen. But it’s too chilly for sitting around.
